How do I install a theme in WordPress

Installing a theme can be daunting as there are so many to choose from. Here at DanumHost we recommend using the Astra theme as its lightweight and compatible with all editors.

To install the Astra theme in WordPress, you can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard. This is typically done by accessing the "/wp-admin" URL of your website (e.g., "yourwebsite.com/wp-admin") and entering your login credentials.

  2. Once you're logged in, navigate to the "Appearance" section on the left-hand side of the dashboard menu and click on "Themes."

  3. In the Themes section, click on the "Add New" button at the top of the page. This will take you to the theme installation page.

  4. On the theme installation page, you'll see a search bar on the right-hand side. Type "Astra" into the search bar and press Enter.

  5. Look for the Astra theme in the search results. It should be listed as "Astra - WordPress Theme" by Brainstorm Force. Once you find it, click on the "Install" button.

  6. After clicking the "Install" button, WordPress will download and install the Astra theme for you. Once the installation is complete, you'll see an "Activate" button. Click on it to activate the Astra theme on your website.

  7. Congratulations! You have successfully installed and activated the Astra theme on your WordPress website. You can now customize the theme by going to "Appearance" > "Customize" or start building your website using the Astra theme.

Remember, before making any significant changes to your website's theme, it's always a clever idea to create a backup of your site. This will ensure that you can restore your website if anything goes wrong during the theme installation or customization process.
